My 2019 Reading Resolutions & Goals

2019 Reading Resolutions.png

Hello and welcome to 2019! ๐Ÿ’œ After facing my first serious blogging crisis during the last half of 2018, I finally realized that I did want to keep blogging! It was just a matter of having more time to read (winter is perfect for that) and not writing a review for every book that I read, only those that I wanted to share with you. So that’s why I’m going to try to do.

2019 Reading Resolutions

  • No blogging pressure, just post whenever I feel like doing it. If I don’t want to post during a week, it’s totally fine.
  • I don’t have to write a review of every book that I read. Sometimes, I don’t have much to say and that’s ok.
  • Catch up with crime series that I want to keep reading. I’m so behind!
  • At the same time, give up on series that I’m only reading as “homework”. It’s not a “crime” to give up an unfinished series and move on.
  • Read more books from the TBR and not so many new releases (ha!)
  • Only request 1 ARC/Netgalley every month.
  • New releases: only authors that I love and debuts that look SUPER good.
  • Reach Netgalley 100%, which shouldn’t be difficult since I only have 3 pending reads.
  • Reduce my Goodreads TBR to 50 (ha!).
  • Join more readalongs and buddy reads.
  • Read more international crime (nordic, etc).
  • Not really blog-related, but WRITE MORE. Finish one story. Finally do this.

So… what are your reading goals this year? Do you share any with me?ย ๐Ÿ’œ

Great goals! Especially the ones that focus on no pressure, you don’t have to do anything, if you don’t feel like posing, reviewing or reading don’t do it. Happy new year and good luck ๐Ÿ˜€

The first two goals, Iโ€™m in complete agreement with! Iโ€™ve stopped writing a review for every book I read and donโ€™t pressure myself to blog and Iโ€™m so much happier for it! Iโ€™m so glad your keeping your blog, I get so many recs from you!

Iโ€™m always up for a buddy ready, and I host a readalong on Instagram for a Stephen King book every month, if you ever want to join.

A great set of goals, happy reading ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ“š

There’s some goodies here, I’m definitely feeling more pressure in the last year or two blogging wise and have decided to stop trying to request and read the world, this year I’m aiming more for books I’ve really really wanted to read for years now! Great post and enjoy!

Great goals, Annie. So glad that your blogging mojo is coming back. I am with you on some of these, especially limiting NetGalley requests and reading more of my own books. Best of luck with all your goals. Have a wonderful 2019.

Good luck with all your goals Annie! I’m focusing on more relaxed blogging this year too. When we put pressure on ourselves to blog to a certain schedule, you can sink really quickly. Posting whenever you feel like it is a far better way to go ๐Ÿ™‚

You’re absolutely right. For example, this first month I’ll be posting often because I had a very productive month of December and I decided to schedule way ahead. But maybe I don’t read much in Feb, who knows…

      Thanks โค

Iโ€™m grateful you are blogging, Annie. โ™ฅ๏ธ These are all wonderful goals. Iโ€™ve been working on not blogging about every book and also cutting back on some posts in general. Hereโ€™s to a simpler 2019!

Lovely post! My main goal this year is to take on fewer review copies so that I can read more of my own books. I feel like there were so many books published last year that I bought and then didn’t get around to reading. Good luck with your goals! ๐Ÿ˜˜

Sound like a great bunch of resolutions! I think we’re all guilty of putting too much pressure on ourselves over blogging – if it stops being fun, then what’s the point? I hope you find a balance that works for you. And have a great reading year! ๐Ÿ˜€

I’m so happy you did not give up on the blog! That is quite an ambitious goal to reduce the TBR to 50! Good luck with that! And I am going to just annoy you into writing a book lol. Speaking of which, did you get any writing done today? ๐Ÿ™‚

Wow Annie. Looks like you have a very healthy attitude towards your 2019 goals. Some of them are SO outside my personal expectations as to be laughable.
“Reach Netgalley 100%, which shouldnโ€™t be difficult since I only have 3 pending reads.”
Impossible for me as I have 72 pending reads on NetGalley.
Reduce my Goodreads TBR to 50 (ha!).
Ha is right! I have a Goodreads TBR of 1,549 titles – 188 of which have review commitments attached.
Have a good year. It seems like you have it all in hand. โ™ฅ

I love your goals, Annie! I’m definitely with you this year on the no blogging pressure. I’ll blog and post reviews when I want to and if I don’t want to, then I won’t…like this week I haven’t posted at all and oh, well. I stopped reviewing every book that I read a long time ago because I just freaked out when I felt like I had to-it felt like a job and not fun. I’m definitely reading more books from my TBR. I did that last year and want to keep at it but more books this year. Early releases are great, but I have so many books that I need to read that are just piling up. Good luck on all your goals! I know you can do it! โ™ฅ

Thanks! Omg, yes! I’m going to read so many books I’ve been meaning to read since I started blogging lol…only now there are 2x as many! ๐Ÿ˜‚ No pressure is a good philosophy for this year. I like it.

I’m so relieved to see that you are not giving up on blogging!! Whew!

I think it is perfectly ok to take some of the pressure off and not review every book! Have you considered doing mini-reviews? That is something I am going to implement in 2019 I think. I am also going to work on NOT buying new books and reading at least 30 of the books I already own. Wish me luck ๐Ÿ™‚
