A personal post…

image

So first of all, I wanted to share this image because I found it hilarious and fitting. I think all book bloggers will love it 💘 I don’t know where it’s from so I can’t give credit, though.

So, a few things:

I don’t know if you have noticed it, but for the past couple months, I haven’t been as active as I would’ve wanted here. This means sharing posts, commenting, answering comments, writing reviews, and even reading. Maybe it was the summer, or maybe it wasn’t… because lately, I can’t seem to spend more than an afternoon per week at home. I’m always out. And that’s good, I guess, and I’m happy, but the blog (and my writing) have been definitely affected. And I don’t really know what to do.

So I wanted to ask you to be patient with me while I slowly try to get my blogging mojo back. Please don’t think I’ve abandoned you all, and if I have interacted less, it’s not because I’m not interested in your posts. Basically: it’s me, not you.

At the same time, I feel like I need some changes here. Maybe a complete redesign would work (have you checked my friend Renee’s amazing redesign?), but I’m not sure. So I’m open to recommendations about anything. If you know a great WordPress theme website, if you feel like I should write more reviews about x, or fewer reviews about y, if you’d want me to write different type of posts… I’m all ears.

I will be thinking about this for the next few weeks and I will try to decide what I want this blog to become. During 2016 and the first half of 2017, The Misstery was my haven, my happy place, and maybe because of that passion, my views kept growing. Now it’s not like that anymore.

Thank you for following and thank you for reading this post 💙 Love you all.

I don’t have any suggestions about the theme. Your blog is beautiful as it is but I hope that you get something else that you will love.

I hope that your blogging mojo comes back soon. Don’t be too hard on yourself, it will be back eventually and hopefully The Misstery will once again be your happy place. Best of luck, Annie ❤

I don’t know what you should do but, with regard to your reviews and style, you are one of my favourite bloggers because you don’t just cut and paste blub and follow it up with one sentence. Your reviews are always really considered and intelligent and you always give some extra perspective such as comparisons to other things you have read. I haven’t really come across any other bloggers who do this, certainly not as well.

Taking a break is a good thing, I find taking a weekend off occasionally helps a lot. We all need time out and don’t you dare worry about all the sharing and commenting stuff, we will all be around as and when you find your mojo. Take care of yourself first lovely ❤️

I like your current theme, but maybe you are right and changing things up a bit will be inspiring 🙂

In the meantime just enjoy yourself. If you feel like spending time outside, do that ❤ It's important to feel good and do things you enjoy.

I’m newer to blogging and you have been lovely and supportive to me from the start, Annie. We will all definitely be here when you have your mojo back. I love your reviews and your blog, and I’ll be here supporting you if you make changes, or if you don’t. ♥️

❤ Thank you so much Jennifer, yours is one of my favorite blogs and as I told you today, you seem to be always reading books that I want to read 😛 I will think about what I want to do, and I might not be super active now, but I will be ^^

Ah, Annie! I’m sorry you’re missing your mojo lately, but I totally get it. I think we all question why we’re doing this from time to time. (I know I do.) Give yourself all the time you need. You’ll figure out what’s right for you.

I love the layout of your blog. The layout is both clean and striking and I love the nice clear font you use. Take care of yourself and enjoy this little break. ❤️

I know that I go through phases where I blog more often and some where I blog less often. I think slow times come to almost everyone eventually. The main thing is to make blogging fun and not a chore – so whatever you have to do to make that happen, do it! Best of luck!

I think that’s pretty common, Annie. I hope you get your blogging mojo back because you’re blog is great, but it’s completely understandable if you need to step back and/or change the way you do things. Blogging is a lot of work! And even when it’s fun, it’s still work. And it’s not always fun…As Jo said, we’ll all be here when you get back if and when you decide to take a break. 🙂

Thanks for the mention Annie and your kind words about my redesign! Do what’s best for you but I also really like the layout and format of your blog. I know how it feels to lose the reading mojo so take your time, it’ll come back!! In the meantime, enjoy doing whatever makes you happy:)

Aww, Annie! I’m so sorry you’re not feeling your blogging mojo right now. You know how much I love your reviews, your style, and your blog, so I wouldn’t tell you to change anything unless that’s what you think will make you happy. You know how much your reviews have led me to pick up new books and love them! You’ve given so much support and encouragement to me over this last year, and I’ll be here to do the same for you! We all have days or weeks that we just don’t feel like blogging, so maybe you just need this time away. We’ll all understand. And we’ll all be here when you’re back to blogging as often as you want to. ❤ ❤

You’re welcome! I have up and down days…fluctuations in being super exhausted to just really tired. I’m having a lot of trouble sleeping, 4 hrs a night seems to be my max, so that’s not helping. I think it’s stress. Every pain in my legs, arm, or chest makes me feel like panicking…just in case. Whatever you decide I’ll definitely support you. You’ve been a great friend. ❤😘
