Books On My Radar #4

nyc (2)

Welcome to Books On My Radar! This is a section where I highlight and share my excitement for upcoming releases or simply books that I’ve wanted to read for a while.

These violent delights by Victoria Namkung

At Windemere School for Girls, one of America’s elite private schools, Dr. Gregory Copeland is the beloved chair of the English Department. A married father with a penchant for romantic poetry—and impressionable teenage girls—he operates in plain sight for years, until one of his former students goes public with allegations of inappropriate conduct. With the help of an investigative journalist, and two additional Windemere alumnae who had relationships with Copeland as students, the unlikely quartet unites to take him down.

Almost non-fiction, but the theme is fascinating, so…!

Artemis by Andy Weir

Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you’re not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you’ve got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down. But pulling off the impossible is just the start of Jazz’s problems, as she learns that she’s stepped square into a conspiracy for control of Artemis itself – and that now, her only chance at survival lies in a gambit even more unlikely than the first.

Loved The Martian’s film so I’m curious about this one!

Check it out!

Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas

Elise is dead. And someone must pay. Anna, her boyfriend Tate, best friend Elise and a group of close friends set off on a debaucherous Spring Break trip to Aruba. But paradise soon turns into a living nightmare when Elise is brutally murdered. Soon Anna finds herself trapped in a foreign country and fighting for her freedom. As she awaits the judge’s decree, it becomes clear that everyone is questioning her innocence. To the rest of the world, Anna isn’t just guilty, but dangerous. As the court case unfolds the truth is about to come out, and it’s more shocking than you could ever imagine…

I’ve read two reviews recently and they made me so excited about this. Apparently, it’s mind-blowing.

  1. eeeeK Annie! I NEED These violent delights by Victoria Namkung! sounds so good, I’ve just added it to my Goodreads TBR so thank you for spotlighting it. Also…I think I prefer the U.K. version of Artemis…that green is eye catching lol. Happy reading 🙂

  2. Thanks for sharing with us! I don’t currently have books on my radar as I don’t have time to look into what will be published soon LOL that’s why I love this kind of post 😉

  3. Artemis is slowly rising to the top of my TBR heap – I’m glad he’s gone for something a bit different rather than trying to replicate The Martian. Can’t wait to get to it!

  4. I have Artemis coming up later this much. Hope it’s as good as the Martian which was such a lovely surprise!

  5. Of those three, These Violent Delights appeals the most – it’s a beautiful cover too! I couldn’t get into The Martian book but thought it would make a good movie (still haven’t seen it.)

I don’t have any books on my radar – new ones, anyway – because I’m covered up with the books I’m supposed to be reading for challenges, readalongs, and my book group! Ugh!
